Sonnymoon, "Run Away", & "Golden Age"

So I have been working on a response for Dane Orr and Anna Wise since they posted "Run Away" on Miscellus last year. Since then, the duo has become Sonnymoon, and has been blowing the minds of Boston, and are now taking over the minds of earthlings everywhere. Here is my first animation in response to "Run Away" which has expanded my imagination to a whole other level. It took me a few months and many sleepless nights to concieve this piece but I think there will be so many more like it to come.

Like my other side collage projects I work on I feel that I had alot of fun and just all-around enjoyed every second of putting this together. Check it out:

Also since last year Sonnymoon has been making magic themselves and has last week just released the debut album Golden Age

You can download it fo'free here:

I insure that you will be bumping this album.

I would also like to say that I am proud to see how far these two have come, and thank them for their support and inspiration as a friends/fellow artists. Thanks for that post guys!

Back In the Swing of Things!

It has been a long wonderful summer, and now that I have settled back in Boston I am back on track with making work.

Soon to come:

Sonnymoon animation!

Because all of the work which I was making in response to Sonnymoon, Sam, and Ryan was lost over the summer, it is going to take me a bit of time to respond to these, but it is possible that some responses may be up sooner depending on what medium I choose to respond in.

Sorry for the delay, but things are back in order.

Since their last submissions I have noticed that Sonnymoon has been on their grind and killing around the Boston area. Check them out:

Rockin' Ry's has some new tracks as well:

Also, I have been putting together a flickr, on it is some of my work from this summer and fall. Check it out:

Nick Lore:

1.A meeting with somebody.

Par excellence. A place for us. Us being me and you, or me and me. Our meeting point is what makes the time apart something to look forwards too. Our meeting point is what gives me a reason to earn my money, if for a coffee or a sandwich. The time seems to go so quick but I wouldn’t have it another way, just one day a week that lasts four hours.
I hold your hand as we approach; I hear your weekly voice and feel the skin that only comes to those who wait.
Our meeting place is in the mind, our meeting place is in the heart, our meeting place is something to repeat.
No work of art can explain a meeting place, no painting or poster. We’ve reached our usual spot, and before you know it I’m off again till next week.
Simple, and easy. Why make my place, our place, complicated.
Vis-à-vis.

Rendezvous
2. A place arranged for this

I hate to be the bearer of bad news...

I know many of you are awaiting responses but I have come to apologize once again for a. my bad luck with technology and b. my bad luck in general. As I was working on some responses my computer crashed loosing all evidence of any work that I had from late last semester, including some Miscelllus workings. Although I have come back to the north east I have come back to living with no internet connection. I will do my best to post submitions and submit responses but I can not promise much unless I use some friend's internet connections. All will be well in September!

Apologies!

Apologies to Dane & Anna (now known as Sonnymoon), as well as Sam and Rockin Ry. It has been a long few weeks of review boards (or finals) for me and I have really spent little time focusing on Miscellus. It's Summertime and the livin's easy now, so I'll get to postin' real soon.

Just a reminder that anyone can submit a response to any of the posts. Comments for the artists are always a big help as well. If anyone is interested in being a designated responder like myself, let me know. I'm down for letting anyone in who wants to contribute.

Thanks!
Lauren Santorio

Response to Bo Pedersen Geel's: Afternoon, March*

I found responding to this poem both easy, but yet extremely difficult. Because I can relate to the setting of this poem, I found myself trying to hold back as much as I could from depicting the streets of Schenectady, but I found that no matter how hard I tried, and how abstractly I tried to respond to the piece, my representations seemed to have Schenectady within them. I guess within all of my pieces, my surroundings of where I grew up are represented only because I know that environment so well, and it is the place where I have spent most of my life thus far. I felt a sense of longing within the piece, and myself also longing to be in the environment which the author has set up. I found myself picturing what this specific place looked like a few months ago. I went through a number of alterations with these, and it took me a number of tries to finally choose the four of these pieces to respond with.

It would be interesting to see how someone who is not familiar with this background responds to this poem, so anyone with time on their hands should.
